Houston, we have no problem. Team 5012 Gryffingear is headed for the FIRST World Championship after winning the Idaho Regional.

On Wednesday March 27th, our robotics team headed out to Boise, Idaho with their robot “Sirius” to compete in their second regional. They were part of the competition Operation Deep Space along with 27 other teams.

Team 5012 Gryffingear was given the opportunity to be allied with alliance team captain 2, 3647 Millennium Falcons. They competed in 13 games in 3v3 matches.

During their quarter finals, they played against alliance team 7 and won. They then played against alliance team 3 in the semi-finals and won again.

Finally when they got to the finals they played against Alliance team 1, in which they eventually won and had an emotional celebration together. However, those weren’t the only awards they received that night.

Along with winning the regional, they also received the safety award and the imagery award. Their next stop is Houston, Texas to compete in the FIRST World Championship.

Congratulations to our robotics team and good luck to them on their next game. The school will be rooting for them all the way.
