Team 5012 Gryffingear Places as Regional Finalists

On Saturday 6th, 5012 Gryffingear competed in the Aerospace Valley Regional here at Eastside High School. They were joined by 37 other talented teams ranging from SoCal all the way to Turkey and Switzerland.

At the end of the qualification matches, Team 5012 was in the #4 Alliance seed captain position with an impressive record of 9-3-0. They were chosen by the #2 Alliance seed, 2659 along with Team 6072 to compete in elimination matches.

During the quarter finals their Alliance gave it their all and competed against Alliance 7 where they won. They then proceeded to semifinals against Alliance 3, in which they also won and were able to go on and compete in finals.

The team was nervous as they got ready to compete against Alliance 1. They had a lot of spirit as the match went on, however, they unfortunately lost in the end. Even so, placing as a finalist also granted Team 6072 a spot at World’s.

Although, they didn’t get to take home the Aerospace Valley Regional Banner they still received the Finalist Trophy along with the Safety Award. Team 5012 is still looking forward to the FIRST World Championship coming up.
