The Office Should Allow Prom Committee to have a Raffle For A Free Prom Ticket

With prom being so close (April 20th) Leadership, more specifically the prom committee, thought it would be a good idea to hold a raffle for a free prom ticket seeing as the tickets are $100. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen. The raffle was canceled but it wasn’t exactly clear on why it was discarded.

That was until I spoke with Jose Malta, a senior who’s in the prom committee. He clarified that the raffle was canceled due to the office shutting down the idea. Leadership can’t follow their plans without approval from the office and while usually, they do get permission, this time the office rejected them. In order to enter the raffle, you had to pay a small fee and the office didn’t like this. They didn’t like the idea of paying to win something free as they think the whole raffle should be free.

But I think they should reconsider.

You have more of a chance of winning this raffle than you do winning the lottery. I’m sure lots of people would rather pay a few bucks to enter and get the chance to win a free ticket rather than pay the full hundred dollars. The office should really think it out and allow the prom committee to have the raffle.
