Yes, The Palmdale Aerospace Academy Boys Varsity Soccer team has won the Heritage League Division again. With their recent win over the rival school, the Vasquez Mustangs, with a score of 2-0, they increased their record to 11-0-1, while on a 3 game winning streak.

They are now back-to-back champions in the Heritage League. This was their second time around in league play and both years, they have gone undefeated. The first year was a home record of 7-0-1 and this year was 11-0-1. Having a league percentage of about 96%, it was as if they were expected to win the division again.

We can not exclude the brilliant mastermind behind this undefeated season. That was none other than the coach, Luis Hernandez. Let’s not also forget that he lead the team to back-to-back league championships. In fact, Coach Hernandez has a team of his own.

His team is composed of former players, who are quite familiar with the sport. Since they know how the team plays. It was a perfect fit to bring them along to help out the coaching staff. Now, let’s dive into the heart of the matter and see how one of the players feels. Recently, I had an over the phone interview with one of the Varsity team captains and the speed demon himself, #11, Cristian Megas.

I asked him some critical thinking questions on how the team felt. The first question I asked him was how did he feel about winning the division. “I feel great about it,” he quotes.

The next question I asked him was since he was a Varsity team captain, did he think his leadership within the team help the team lead to victory or was it mainly a team effort ? “I say it was a team thing mostly but my leadership did help.” Humble, yet confident. Then, I asked him if he had any doubt that the team would gain another division win.

“No, I did not.” That is confidence on a whole new level. The final question I asked him was if a new player were to join the championship team, would it benefit or ruin the team’s chemistry. “I think it would benefit us because another player means that we can try something new and they can add to the team,” he says. However, this was a team win and I hope to see our name as Heritage League Division winners a little bit more. Go Griffins!
