Our very own Track and Field team kicked off the season with a meet in Westlake Village at Oaks Christian high school. Our day started off early at 5:50 am as Track and Field athletes eagerly waited for our departure to the first race of the season. The weather was cold, but our spirits were high as we approached our long-awaited opportunity to represent both our school and all the hard work put in at practices. Many of our athletes did not disappoint with various PRs— TPAA’s Track and Field history was even made that day.

Freshman Jahzell Brewster placed third in the 300-meter hurdles, making history for our first hurdle team here at TPAA. Senior Sabrina Rashid came in second place for Varsity Girls’ Shot-Put throwing 33 ft and 11 inches. With a few meets this season, each athlete is making sure to leave no room for disappointment and simply more room for PRs and medals like we did this Saturday. Sprinter captain and senior Kevin Reyes expressed, “On Saturday, everyone did amazing. Although it was raining all day with everyone cold,

we all managed to PR on our races which showed Jahzell Brewster medalling in Girls 300m Hurdles our dedication to the team. No matter what the

circumstances are, we all did great.” Between the commitment of each athlete on our team and the encouragement from each other and coaches—we are making this season unforgettable both on and off the track. The only downside is the big shoes next years’ team has to fill but as captain Kevin Reyes said, “there’s no doubt in my mind this season and seasons to come will do even better.” Another W for TPAA’s Track and Field team!
